What is a "Qualified Person?"

When it comes to fall protection design and engineering, OSHA stipulates, “Horizontal lifelines shall be designed, installed, and used under the supervision of a Qualified Person”. Northland Safety Solutions LLC defines a "Qualified Person" as a professional engineer licensed in the state in which we are doing business.

Since 2015, we have provided fall protection systems in Twin Cities, MN and surrounding areas, as well as serving industrial customers in South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Iowa. Fill out our online form today to request any of our fall protection services.

Fall Protection System Design Criteria

To provide a safe working environment, our experienced engineers will design a fall protection system that meets the customer’s requirements, taking into consideration the existing facility’s current environment. This system design will include, but is not limited to:

  • OSHA/ANSI/Manufacturer’s regulations and requirements
  • Type of fall protection (cable-based, rigid rail, single point anchor, guardrail, etc.)
  • Obstructions (electrical/air/water lines, heat ducts, material handling systems, etc.)
  • Total fall distance clearance requirements
  • User-friendliness
  • Production schedules for installation purposes
  • Use of overhead bridge cranes, if applicable.

How We Protect You

There are various forms of fall protection and the overarching term can be especially ambiguous to fall protection clients. We offer comprehensive fall protection solutions including fall prevention, fall restraint, and fall arrest systems MN can trust. Some of our options, such as horizontal lifelines can serve both fall restraint and fall arrest purposes. Allow us to briefly explain the differences between these forms of fall protection.

  • Fall Prevention

These solutions aim to passively keep falls from happening to begin with.

  • Fall Restraint

These solutions aim to restrict an individual from being able to freely access a drop-off or edge.

  • Fall Arrest

These solutions aim to stop a fall once it has started.
