Rigid Rail Systems - Design Criteria
A rigid rail system is popular in certain marketplaces as it reduces the Total Fall Distance by eliminating the cable deflection found in cable based horizontal lifeline systems. However, the Engineer of Record (EOR) has to take into consideration the ‘static’ load of the rigid rail system. Rigid forms of fall protection include: 1) wide flanged beams, 2) enclosed track systems and 3) pre-engineered rail system offered by manufacturers.
